Intel oneAPI
MHI has been notified by Intel® that as of December 31, 2020, the Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition will no longer be available for purchase by Intel and its resellers. Instead, the "Intel oneAPI" product will be available, starting December 8, 2020.
Intel oneAPI Base & HPC Toolkit is the ‘next-generation’ of Intel Parallel Studio XE, and replaces the Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition.
Please note the following:
- For compiling PSCAD projects, the following is the product: Intel oneAPI, “single-node” edition, “Classic” version, which consists of two installers, for the Base Toolkit and the HPC Toolkit.
- Preliminary testing has revealed that Intel oneAPI works with both PSCAD v4.6.3 and recently released v5.0.0. Official support for oneAPI with PSCAD will be available in an upcoming version.
- Intel oneAPI is version 19.2, while the last version of parallel Studio XE Composer Edition remains at version 19.1 (2020).
- Now that Intel oneAPI is officially released, instructions for modifying your current PSCAD v4.6 program files to be able to use the Intel oneAPI product are listed here.
- A license for Intel oneAPI is backwards compatible: A license purchased for oneAPI can be used with the previous Parallel Studio Composer Editions. Testing has shown this license works with software as old as Intel 10.0.
Note
For information on obtaining older versions of the Intel compiler for use with your new license, please contact the MHI support desk (support@mhi.ca). - There is some forward compatibility support for models: Models created in Parallel Studio Composer Edition may be run using Intel oneAPI; if any limitations are detected, these will be posted.
- MHI will be a reseller for Intel oneAPI: "Single-Node" edition, "Single-named" license. Information on purchasing through MHI is listed in this article.
- Like the Composer Edition, Intel oneAPI is also dependent on Microsoft(R) Visual Studio. Intel oneAPI is officially supported with Visual Studio 2017 and 2019. PSCAD v4.6.3 and newer is also supported with Visual Studio 2017 and 2019.
- Some setup tips are available in this article.
