Setting up Required Permissions and Protocols to Permit Certificate Licensing

Certain folder permissions are required to allow MHI products to be licensed using Certificate Licensing. It is recommended to set these permissions prior to attempting to license your software. This may be done by using the Fortran Medic utility, as follows:

1. Download and launch the Fortran Medic utility as per Steps (a) to (c) of this article.

     Note - At Step (c), ensure to select "Yes".

2. From the "Help" menu, go Advanced help | Ensure required folder permissions for certificates, then select the corresponding product family as specified below:

a. Select "PSCAD 45 and 46" if using PSCAD v4.5.x or v4.6.x

b. Select "PSCAD 5" if using PSCAD v5.x.x

c. Select "non-PSCAD products" if using PRSIM, the Initializer, FACE, or Enerplot

3. For all MHI products, from the "Help" menu, go Advanced help | Ensure required permissions for certificate licensing:

4. For PSCAD v4.5.3 to v4.6.3 (Update 3), Enerplot 1.0.0 and FACE 2.0, TLS 1.0 must be fully supported. Full support includes support on the machine itself as well as in your network, firewall, gateway, router, policy etc.

The Fortran Medic utility can be used to set TLS 1.0 to be supported on your machine as per the step below. The Fortran Medic can also be used to determinine whether there is full support for TLS 1.0 as per this article.

To set your machine to support TLS 1.0, download and launch the Medic utilty as per Step 1 above, then, from the "Help" menu, go Advanced help | Enable TLS 1.0...

5. For PSCAD v4.6.3 (Update 4) and better, PSCAD V5 and better, PRSIM v1.0.0, Initializer v1.0.0, Enerplot version >1.0.0, FACE version >2.0, TLS 1.2 must be fully supported. Full support includes support on the machine itself as well as in your network, firewall, gateway, router, policy etc.

The Fortran Medic utility can be used to set TLS 1.2 to be supported on your machine as per the steps below. The TLS 12 Tester utility can be downloaded and used to determinine whether there is full support for TLS 1.2 as per this article.
